BitRaser’s suite of products for data erasure, diagnostics, and verification provides users the flexibility to store reports and certificates on its cloud server. Using the BitRaser Public Cloud Console, IT admins and technicians can create, manage & edit users, make user pools, and distribute BitRaser licenses as per their business requirements. BitRaser Public Cloud is a secure platform that is hosted on AWS (Amazon Web Services) server in Germany.
However, some organizations may have certain policies that are very restrictive in nature, like implementing cybersecurity controls that do not permit hosting information on public cloud servers, including reports & certificates generated by BitRaser. Under these circumstances, BitRaser customers can opt to host the Cloud Console on their private network and internally manage their erasure licenses and reports. This setup is done at an additional cost, based on a yearly subscription model, unlike BitRaser Public Cloud.

A Look at BitRaser Private Cloud & Its Benefits
BitRaser Private Cloud is a rendition of BitRaser Cloud Console on an organizational internal network infrastructure. It works just like BitRaser Cloud Console in terms of its functionality, with the only exception being the servers on which it is hosted. BitRaser Public Cloud is hosted on the AWS platform and is maintained by the BitRaser team, unlike the Private Cloud, that is hosted on the company’s infrastructure that purchased it.
Generally, the primary reason for hosting BitRaser Cloud on organizational infrastructure is due to the internal data security policies that do not allow hosting any data on public servers. For example, an MSP organization that provides cloud services to banks, including hosting the bank website, has access to financial information that is both private and confidential. The organization could have multiple data centers to wipe during an upgrade that are spread across the entire country connected over a Network. However, the organizational policy does not allow internet connectivity at these data centers for data security purposes. Without Internet connectivity, BitRaser Public Cloud is inaccessible, and using the Drive Eraser Offline variant, the erasure reports have to be stored on local systems. This makes the management of the erasure process complicated and cumbersome, requiring physical presence at each location for data erasure and report collection. Instead, the organization can choose the Network Cloud Variant of BitRaser Drive Eraser with the Private Cloud to overcome these challenges and store reports on their own server for anytime access.
A few advantages of using a BitRaser Private Cloud are mentioned below.
- Centralized Management: The BitRaser Private Cloud provides system admins access to software licenses for BitRaser Drive Eraser. Admins can manage users from a centralized location over a network without the need for the Internet. They can perform drive and device erasure over the company network using the private cloud console.
- Digital License Repository: Admins can store their erasure licenses in digital form on their Private Cloud. They can transfer product licenses from an offline USB to their BitRaser Private Cloud. This allows for streamlined license distribution to individual users or to a user pool group.
- Facilities Remote Erasure: System admin can leverage the OOB (Out Of Band) communication channels to remotely access and erase their servers. Dell servers can be accessed and erased via the iDRAC (Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller); similarly, HPE servers can be erased via iLO (Integrated Lights-Out). Remote and centralized data wiping helps in cost reduction, improved server management and simplified compliance.
- Achieve Scalability in Data Erasure via PXE Boot: BitRaser Drive Eraser software can be deployed over a WAN or a LAN via PXE to perform simultaneous erasures of multiple devices over a network. The software ISO file is mounted on a virtual drive as an image file and is deployed to erase up to 65,000 drives simultaneously. This helps achieve scalability, saves time, and standardizes the erasure process, ensuring that the same erasure protocols are consistently applied across all locations.
